Sinterklaas (Dutch for `Saint Nicholas`, a Santa Clause-like traditional figure in Europe) and his mischievous assistant Zwarte Piet (Dutch for `Black Pete`) are staying in their secret castle, preparing to bring all good children their yearly gifts. In each episode, television celebrity Bart Peeters pays them a visit, trying to learn what it takes to make the feast into a success.

Albert is an eccentric inventor of missiles who comes under fire from his investors when his first prototype explodes. Even his sympathetic mistress has her doubts, as Albert lashes out in a verbal tirade condemning those of little faith in his genius.

The festive arrival of Sinterklaas is overshadowed by a huge problem: due to a large shortage of staff, the tradition threatens to disappear once and for all. Sinterklaas is desperate: where can he find new, good staff on such short notice? The youngest member of staff suggests they organize an audition in which everybody can show off their skills in order to become a member of staff; a so-called 'Piet'. Sem writes a letter to register for this audition immediately. If he can become a tough, strong 'Piet', his bullies will never harass him again. But what nobody knows is that Huibert Jan and his "Mammie" are trying to sabotage the audition with an evil scheme. Will Sem, Patty Pepernoot and 'Piet' Bennie successfully save the audition or is this the end of the festive and beloved Sinterklaas tradition?

Sinterklaas and the Pieten have a big problem. The castle of Sinterklaas is about to collapse. It must be demolished. That is why Sinterklaas and the Pieten are forced to stay at a campsite. Even Hugo Hogepief is at a loss, because no castle means no presents and gingerbread cookies for the children. Ten-year-old Bloem is completely crazy about Sinterklaas' horse. After several attempts, she finally convinces Sinterklaas to let her ride his horse, but then something terrible happens. During a ride outside the castle, Amerigo loses his magic horseshoe. Sinterklaas' horse does not have normal horseshoes, but one golden horseshoe. Without this magical horseshoe, Amerigo cannot climb onto the roofs. Sinterklaas does not want to worry his helpers and starts a search together with Bloem. Will they find the horseshoe in time, or will this year's gift-giving evening have to be canceled?
